Lovers of eco tourism, the Ardennes welcomes you with open arms!
Carved out by mountain erosion, the Ardennes countryside unfolds its bucolic charm across vast rolling hills, where dense, lush forests stretch out, dotted here and there with lakes and ponds. The bell towers overlooking each village and the medieval fortifications still standing in many of them bear witness to the region's rich heritage. This living legacy is further enhanced by the discovery of the local terroir.
Between lakes and forests, you could almost believe you were in a mini Canada...
We recommend: Le Mont Cornu, a reconstructed medieval village in Montcornet. Elfy Park, 800 metres on foot from the campsite, with summer tobogganing, tree houses, a sea of nets, zip lines, slides, sound games and a storytelling area. The Saint-Laurent Animal Park, 25 km away: 38 hectares of wild animals, mainly from the Ardennes. The fortified town of Rocroi, listed as a ‘Petite Cité de Caractère’ (Small Town of Character), offering spectacular views from the sky, and Charleville-Mézières, listed as a ‘Ville d'Art et d'Histoire’ (Town of Art and History) with its magnificent Place Ducale.
You can also discover the fortified castle of Sedan, the theatre in Charleville-Mézières, the Musée de la Dernière Cartouche in Bazeilles, and the house of Arthur Rimbaud in Charleville-Mézières.
